Liverpool attacker Florian Wirtz admitted mixed emotions after their 1-1 draw against Burnley.

Wirtz struck on the opener at Anfield on Saturday before Marcus Edwards' strike for Burnley pegged them back.

The Germany attacker lamented afterwards: "Yeah, very frustrating. I think, as you said, we had a lot of chances – enough chances to decide the game early. We missed that today. So, very disappointing.

"A few times maybe we could decide a little bit better (in attack). But we were also – with Hugo (Ekitike)'s goal, which was offside, I think – a little bit unlucky in a few moments. But we have to be better in front of the goal. I think there weren't so many big, big chances but in the end we scored one goal and that was not enough today.

"I felt that we were really good in the game from the first half on – we played a good game. I think even when they scored the equaliser, we were still the better team, had the better chances. It just didn't want to go in again. It's so disappointing."

On his own form, Wirtz said: "I think I'm feeling good on the pitch. Also the connections with the teammates are really good now – we understand each other better on the pitch and I feel this. It gives me more confidence and makes (it) more fun to play."
