The Brazilian has stepped down from his position as assistant coach of Atletico Mineiro and has started on Merseyside over the past few days as he works with the Reds’ senior, loan, U21 and U18 training groups.

Liverpool released a statement confirming his appointment which will excite many after his work with Vasco da Gama, Ceara, Bahia, Ponte Preta, Coritiba, Juventude, Atletico Mineiro and Cuiaba over the years.

“At Liverpool, he will act as a methodological lead on individual development plans to ensure clear alignment across the club’s senior team, loan, U21 and U18 training groups.

“The role will involve him working closely with Academy coaches to provide a joined-up pathway from the Kirkby set-up to loans and then into the senior team.

“That will also see him connect with the loan support team and other clubs, maintaining direct contact with players developing away from the Reds.”

He joins Julian Ward, FSG director of football development Pedro Marques, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, and academy director Alex Inglethorpe in what have been some major shifts behind the scenes for the Premier League champions.
