Moises Caicedo opened the scoring with a thunderous strike in the 14th minute with Cody Gakpo scoring the equaliser just after the break.

Both sides kept looking for the winner, but it was Chelsea wonderkid Estevao who broke the deadlock, scoring his first goal for the club in the 95th minute.

Speaking to the press after the game, Slot insisted that up until the final 10-15 minutes, his side were the dominant ones.

He said: "We were the dominant team but in the last 10-15 mins it was end to end, both teams could have scored. Both teams arrived a lot of times at the 18-yard line.

“These are the margins that don't fall for us at the moment. we have to work harder to not rely on these margins.

“As I said, Chelsea, Palace away, these are also teams that ask you a lot of questions."
