These two sides have faced each other a total of 175 times across all competitions and have both won 69 matches each compared to 37 draws.
City head into the clash on the back of a 2-0 win over Galatasaray, whilst Spurs are still confident after their win over Frankfurt. A win is crucial for City to stay in the title race whilst a decent result for Tottenham is critical for manager Thomas Frank to stay in the job.
Bobb's move is a compliment
Lijnders, who filled in for manager Pep Guardiola who has a personal issue, first spoke on Oscar Bobb who completed his move to Fulham on Friday afternoon.
"It's insane, at this age, to make a transfer like that into the Premier League. I'm really happy for him. The way they set up, they will feed him a lot of balls. It's a big compliment for our academy."
Arsenal should be ignored
Next, Lijnders was asked about Spurs under Frank who last completed a miserable 2-2 draw with newly-promoted Burnley in their Premier League campaign which has left them 14th in the table and far, far away from the European spots.
"Thomas Frank sets them up in a really clear way.
"They can link inside to attack through the inside, they can play balls in behind. They are quite fluid on the outside, high-pressing team. Good set piece team. We are really looking forward to this game."
Finally, as City try to pick up 3 points to fuel their title charge, Lijnders was questioned on league leaders Arsenal who he says should be ignored as they aim to concentrate on simply winning the game.
"It's about us. I've been in a few title races, it's about focusing on the next game. I know it's a cheeky answer, but you have to win your own games.
"You have to put pressure and chase, they have to feel us. It's only possible by winning football matches, with this hopefully we can put on pressure."
