Gudmundsson , 26, left Halmstads BK for FC Groningen in the summer of 2019.
Two years later, his career took him to Lille OSC. After four seasons at the French club, it was time for another move.
Now at Elland Road, Gudmundsson told Lundh on Fotbollskanalen: "I want to be out there (abroad) as long as possible. I have an ambition for that. Then we'll see. I never close any doors (on Halmstads).
"Of course, I'm going to have a family this summer. You get a little different perspective then probably when you get a little older. But I'm at a very good age now and I've been injury-free a lot. So the ambition is to play out there as long as possible."
The 26-year-old admits that he still has a good relationship with former club, Halmstads.
"It's good. I usually go down to Örjans vall and train a bit when I'm home. I live quite close. We don't have any contact during the season, but it's more that we buzz a bit when I get home and meet them," he added.
