Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris says they showed the right character for Sunday's 1-1 draw with Tottenham.

Spurs took the lead at home through Ben Davies on the hour mark before Brian Brobbey found an 80th minute equaliser.

Speaking post-match, Le Bris said: “We started a bit slowly and lacked energy at the beginning.

“We felt we could manage the first half, but we weren’t at the level expected. Maybe we were a bit tired after the City game, which can be normal.

“This level can be so demanding that if you don’t give your best, you can be punished by two or three goals.

“In the second half, we reacted well and showed the best version of Sunderland, with energy, character, and a real determination to press high.

“For a striker, it’s always the same: you can work hard, play well, and contribute out of possession, but if you don’t score, you’re not happy.

“We weren’t worried because we knew it was just a question of time, and for Brian this will be very positive for his future," he continued.

“The bench helped us once again today because we need our finishers. Sometimes we need one, two, or three, and today they helped a lot.

“It’s a question of belief. When you can turn a game around like that, it gives you confidence for the future because you know you can do it again.

“We’ve shown many times that it’s possible, and that belief is always in our minds.”
