Lamb struck twice in City U18's 4-1 win against Sheffield United yesterday.

“It’s been better than I expected,” Lamb told City's website.

“City are the best team in the league and it helps that your teammates are around you and giving the support, but just take it upon yourself to work hard every day and especially having a good pre-season and with the 16s when I first came in.

“I’m just going to carry on going and see where it can take me.”

The 16-year-old also made his England youth debut over the international break.

“It was a really good feeling for myself and my family,” Lamb said reflecting on the occasion.

“I’ve been wanting that for a long, long time, but it doesn’t stop there. I need to score my first goal and I need to do a lot of other things, but it’s a nice one to have especially so young.

“If you’re good enough to represent your country, it gives you a boost when you’re on the ball and you know how you carry yourself, so every good thing gives me confidence, but it’s about keeping it in myself and bringing it onto the pitch here.”
