Manchester United legend Roy Keane has ripped into Matheus Cunha after his miss against Aston Villa.

United were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa on Sunday night in a loss that stops the side from entering the top four once again under manager Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils’ most dangerous player proved to be Cunha on the night as he fired home United’s only goal in the first half. However, the Brazilian should’ve had a second later in the game in a miss that Keane said was unbelievable.

“It’s more than potential, he’s the real deal.

“It was never in doubt (the goal), it’s a brilliant finish. And then he misses a sitter in the second half which defies logic really, it’s hard to see how he missed that.

“To me he looks like a Manchester United player. I think he’s embraced playing for Man United.”

Keane’s former teammate Gary Neville also commented on the miss which he admitted was unforgivable.

"Oh my goodness. You will have to go a long way to see a worse miss than that."

"(It) had to be a goal. It's an absolutely brilliant pass from (Mason) Mount and a wonderful cross from (Patrick) Dorgu. On a plate.

"He's got no excuse, Cunha, he has to score."

The former Wolves ace saw out the full 90 minutes in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat and should feature once more in United’s clash against Newcastle United on Boxing Day where the club could move into the European spots.
