As reported by the club on Tuesday morning, Brady has confirmed the surprise decision to step away after more than three decades at the club where she has been for almost two decades.
She has announced her departure the morning after West Ham drew at Crystal Palace to sit two points above the Premier League’s relegation zone.
Speaking on her sudden departure, Baroness Brady said:
“It has been a privilege to work alongside the Board, management, players, staff and supporters at West Ham United. Together we have achieved remarkable milestones, but the highlight for me will always be lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy - a moment that will stay with me forever.
“I am deeply grateful for the relationships, challenges and opportunities that have shaped my time at the Club.”
This exit sees the end of a near-40-year business relationship with chairman David Sullivan, who first appointed her in March 1993 at Birmingham City.
Speaking more on her exit, she wished the club all the best for the future as they attempt to avoid relegation under manager Nuno Espirito Santo this season.
“While this chapter closes, my passion for football and commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders remains undiminished. I wish West Ham United every success for the future and look forward to following their continued achievements with pride.”
West Ham’s joint-chair Daniel Kretinsky also added that Brady transformed the side for the better during her successful tenure: “Her contribution to West Ham United’s growth, such as the long-term contract for the London Stadium, shareholders transition and the British record transfer of Declan Rice, has been absolutely essential and not always fully appreciated.”
