Jurgen Klopp is to return to Anfield as an assistant manager for the upcoming charity game against Borussia Dortmund.

Klopp has not returned to the sidelines since departing Anfield at the end of the 2023/24 season when he welcomed in the era of Arne Slot as he waved goodbye to supporters.

However, the German head coach will return to Anfield to assist Kenny Dalglish in a legends game this year as the Reds face off against Dortmund in March.

Jerzy Dudek, Pepe Reina, Sami Hyypia, Fabio Aurelio, Gregory Vignal, Martin Kelly and Yossi Benayoun are all among the players expected to take to the pitch for the game.

Klopp managed Dortmund between 2008 and 2015 and returns to greet both sets of fans who will be delighted to see the 58 year old, even if he isn’t one of the managers.

Dalglish will be supported by Ian Rush and John Aldridge in a side that will be captained by club legend Steven Gerrard.

Klopp is happy where he is

Klopp now works as Red Bull's global head of soccer and says he is very happy with the role despite links back to Liverpool and rivals Real Madrid

"I’m in a place, as a person, where I’m completely at peace with where I am.

“I don’t want to be somewhere else. I don’t get up and excited if Real Madrid are showing interest if they would be, but it’s the media.

“Do I want to coach again? At the moment, I would say no, but I cannot say never, never, never.

“I don’t expect to change my mind, but I don’t know.”
