After his mega-money move from Stuttgart over the summer, Woltemade has made an excellent start in Newcastle under manager Eddie Howe, who isn’t missing Alexander Isak just yet as he grows to his new German striker.
The 23-year-old has bagged four goals in five starts for The Magpies so far and will look to add another against Brighton this weekend as he continues to impress fans and pundits alike.
Now, speaking to ChronicleLive, Joelinton has backed Woltemade to succeed and says he will do anything to help the young striker bag as many goals as possible.
"There can be a pressure. I had pressure when I played as No 9 to bring good performances and help the team. I don't have the No 9 any more, but I still have pressure to try to help my team-mates and create.
“Everybody has the pressure, you just have to try to do well and create as many chances as you can. We will be looking to do that for Nick Woltemade and give him the best opportunity to score goals. That responsibility lies with everyone, and we are close to this, and hopefully Nick will score more and more."
It will be a tough game for Newcastle as they head to the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon. However, with Joelinton and Woltemade working together instead of seeing each other as rivals, Howe will have full confidence in his attack, who are in top form as their campaign continues.
