The loss to Brentford on Saturday was Liverpool’s fourth in a row in the league and after Arsenal beat Crystal Palace, the league title is slipping away from manager Arne Slot, whose side look pathetic over recent weeks.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher, who made 737 appearances for Liverpool, has suggested that the Reds do not have the physicality needed to compete this season and have to look within themselves for answers.
"I don't think they've got enough (physicality). To lose four games in a row for a team like Brentford, or a team battling relegation, would be a disaster. To see the champions lose four games in a row, with the expenditure in the summer, I think we're in crisis time.
“There will be a lot of serious questions being asked of everyone, the playing staff, and the manager. When they've looked at what they've spent, they'll be looking for a lot more. Liverpool have to look at the physicality and height within their team because, right now, I don’t think they have enough."
Following Liverpool’s loss to the Bees, they have lost four times from their opening nine Premier League matches. They lost only four times in total last season, and two of them came after the title was won.
Liverpool return to Anfield on Wednesday for a Carabao Cup clash against Crystal Palace as they take a break from the league. This may be the perfect time for Slot’s side to bounce back and return to form as they seek to stay in all competitions.
