James Hill praised AFC Bournemouth’s “never-say-die” spirit after they came from behind to earn a point against Sunderland at home.

Eliezer Mayenda gave the visitors an early lead but Evanilson came off the bench to finish a brilliant cross from Marcus Tavernier.

The draw keeps Bournemouth in eighth and extends their unbeaten Premier League run to eight matches, the second longest in the division.

“Both teams had chances but we really pushed for it, particularly at the end,” he said.

“We just couldn’t quite get that finishing touch to grab a winner.

“But that’s what we pride ourselves on. We’re a young group and we’ve very hungry, everyone is desperate to improve.

“We have a never say die attitude which we are proud of, we keep going and it shows in recent results.

“We push all the way to the last and we’re always pushing for more.

“Credit to the boys to keep digging in, not just today in a difficult battle, but we’ve shown a very good mentality across the past few weeks.”
