Andy Robertson has leapt to the defence of Liverpool’s new signing Milos Kerkez after manager Arne Slot substituted him in the first half against Burnley.

Robertson, 31, replaced new signing Kerkez, 21, in the 38th minute of Liverpool’s late 1-0 Premier League win over Burnley on Sunday (September 14).

The young Hungarian had picked up an early yellow card and looked like he could very well pick up a second in a manic performance.

Kerkez may have supplanted Robertson in the starting eleven, but the Scotland international can sympathize with his new teammate.

He said: "It's a massive jump. I came from Hull, he's come from Bournemouth, and it's probably quite similar. There are a lot more eyes on you in a Liverpool jersey than at those two clubs.

He (Kerkez) has transitioned well. There's a lot of information and a lot of different ways of playing and he just needs to keep going and keep his confidence. I have no doubt in the future he will be a fantastic left-back for Liverpool and that's the main thing."
