The Cherries failed to win any of their Premier League fixtures in November and conceded 12 goals in the process as Iraola’s side fell out of the top four and crashed down to 14 place.
Tavernier made a mistake
Bournemouth will hope to bounce back to winning ways at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Iraola first commented on Marcus Tavernier, who was criticised for gesturing towards Bournemouth fans after their game against Everton.
"We've discussed it with him. I think the first thing is that he knows and he admits, and he's aware that he made a mistake. You can never complain against the supporters, but I have the advantage that I know Tav.
"I think there is a part where this shows that he's passionate, he cares, he's frustrated. He's always available to push, and I have seen that about his character and that he's the first one who wants to win and is competitive. But it's true that he made a mistake, and he knows it, and I'm sure it's not going to happen again."
Bournemouth have to adapt
Despite losing 1-0 to Everton on Tuesday night, Iraola's squad was the youngest starting 11 in the Premier League and he says this decision was down to adaptability and is all part of his process to improve his side.
"This is a fact, the other day I think we played with seven new signings in the starting 11. A lot of them are very, very young as you say and this is going to be a process, that’s why we talk in the summer, this is going to be a rebuild.
"We will have this time of ups and downs and players will adapt more quickly and the others need more minutes, more mistakes, but this is part of the process, and we know it and we must accept these things.
"Usually, we want to compete, and we want to always get good performances, but we know that we are part of this history where we are changing a lot of things.”
Chelsea will be a tough test for Bournemouth but the Blues' loss to Leeds United in midweek could be enough to give Iraola's side confidence heading into a game that he thinks will demand a lot from his side.
"I expect the best Chelsea. We know this before we play tomorrow, so we have to be at our very best because the opposition is playing very well.
"They are getting better and better with Enzo (Maresca) and I think they will demand a lot (from us) defensively."
