Postecoglou, 55, was sacked after leading Tottenham to a 17th placed Premier League finish, despite winning their first trophy in 17-years, beating Man United in the Europa League final.
The Australian has since replaced Espirito-Santo at Forest after he was dismissed due to a high profile falling out with owner Evangelos Marinakis.
During his time with Spurs, Postecoglou was often criticised for his tactical stubbornness, something he believes was ‘misconstrued’.
Speaking in his first interview as Forest manager, he said: "I love winning. I love winning things, it's what I've done. I want the fans to be excited about watching the team play.
“I think there's already an existing mentality within the group of working hard for one another and, you know, I want to tap into that.
“And from my perspective it's about now implementing my own ideas. It's no secret I like my teams to attack. I love my teams to score goals.
“That's sometimes misconstrued as me just playing one way, but the reason I want my teams to play that way is I love winning things and that's what I want to do here."
