Brighton have only suffered one loss at the stadium in their nine home fixtures, and enter the weekend's clash in 14th place with 25 points.
Burnley, meanwhile, are 19th with just 12 points following their 3-1 loss against Newcastle United and Brighton will hope to pick up a rare 3 points this weekend.
Team news
Hurzeler first touched upon team news and started on the fitness of Yankuba Minteh who could feature this weekend despite injury concerns.
“Yeah, the scan is fine. Let’s see how training goes today and then we can see if he starts tomorrow."
On Mats Wieffer: “He had a small issue with his toe so he won’t be available for tomorrow, but I hope that it is not a big issue.”
On Kaoru Mitoma: “Yeah I think he can be an option. I think he played well and had an impact when he came on the pitch. We know that he is a quality player, so therefore we are happy that he is back."
Gross back to Brighton?
Questions next turned to the potential resigning of Pascal Gross, 34, who moved to Borussia Dortmund in August 2024 and Hurzeler did not rule out a January move.
"I definitely like him as a player and also, when he was gone, I had contact with him because we tried to get him to stay here, but he wanted to follow his dreams, which we respected. We continued to follow him because he’s a player who did great things for the club. We rate him highly.
“He’s a quality player. He has a big impact on scoring goals and creating chances, but I think it’s also important to emphasise that when he was gone we bought replacements, had players who stepped up and young players who took their chances. Therefore, I think we missed a quality player but were able to replace him with young players.”
Brighton have been held to draws in their last two at the Amex and a win at the weekend could see them shoot up the table to as high as 8th, above the likes of Everton as they chase down a European spot.
