A win for The Magpies against The Gunners this weekend means they will have won four successive home matches against Arsenal for the first time since all the way back in 1969 in what would be an excellent stat to achieve for Howe.
Woltemade cannot be compared to anyone else
Questions first focused on summer signing Nick Woltemade and how he cannot be compared to any other player at the club as he adapt to the Premier League.
"It is difficult to see him as a ten considering we do not play with somebody in that position. I see him as a nine.
"I see him as a nine who plays it slightly differently to other nines that we might have had in the past. You can't compare Nick (Woltemade) to Callum Wilson for example, they are two totally different profiles of player."
Howe pleased with Osula's progress
William Osula was the next topic of conversation and Howe seemed relieved that he did not leave in the summer as he picks up form after Alexander Isak's departure.
"The thing with Will (Osula) and the situation with him and his career, we felt and he felt that he needed to play regularly after development behind the scenes.
"He did a lot of work and a lot of individual work on all areas of the game and I think there was a need for him to play. Of course that move (to Eintracht Frankfurt) did not happen and fortunately for us and for Will he is getting opportunities to step on to the pitch and I was really pleased with him on Wednesday."
Criticism of Miley
Teenager Lewis Miley has received a lot of criticism as of late for his subpar performances despite being just 17 years old. Howe as well as Joelinton came to his aid this week as they back the youngster.
"I'd be amazed if that was the case (that he was being criticised). I think that would be totally unjustified.
"For me, Lewis (Miley) is an outstanding player that we need to support and protect and sometimes when you look at him you forget how young he is. All players need help and guidance and of course we will do everything we can to support him."
Howe has a lot of praise for Botman and Malick Thiaw
Next, Howe praised Sven Botman and Malick Thiaw for their commitment to the club, especially as Botman slowly returns to full fitness.
"Just looking individually at the players, Sven (Botman) has been a magnificent player for us.
"You go back a couple of seasons ago he was a part of the back four that was really resilient and solid. He was in a back four that was playing consistently at that time and everyone knows his qualities.
"The injury came at a bad time for him and whenever you have a long term injury there is a period where you go through and have to find your best form and we are close to seeing him back to his best.
"Malick (Thiaw) is in a different situation but he has really impressed us."
The return of Gordon
Finally, he spoke on the boost of having Anthony Gordon back from suspension after his foul on Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk some weeks ago.
"It is a big boost for us to have him back, The Barcelona game was sandwiched in-between his suspension in the Premier League and I think now that is fully over he can really focus on the few games we have before the international break.
"I thought he was excellent against Bradford, he was creative and certainly he had the right attitude to the game and helped the team deliver a good performance.
"We need that attitude from everyone, we are playing big games every three or four days and he is someone who has done well in those kind of games (against teams like Arsenal) and for me he is a player that rises to the occasion."
