Carrick, 44, has been a revelation since he came in as Man United’s interim manager, beating local rivals Man City and then league leaders Arsenal.
Man United now have a genuine chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, something that was looking increasingly unlikely under Ruben Amorim.
His performances in the dugout aren’t the only ones to have impressed, however, with Maguire joking that the former midfielder is putting the squad to shame in training.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Inside Carrington podcast, Maguire said: "He still does demos in passing drills and he still bangs it through the lines like he’s still got it.
"He was doing the demos the other day, and I think he did two passes. Everyone did about 300. I think his two were the best I’ve seen out of them all!"
