Former Al-Ahly winger and director of football, Sayed Abdel Hafeez has confirmed that Mohamed Salah's future is secure at Liverpool.

Reports have stated in recent weeks that the Saudi Pro League’s offer for Liverpool attacker Salah remains on the table as they aim to lure him away from the Premier League champions.

Salah’s performances for Liverpool have been questioned by some pundits and a section of the media after just four goals and three assists from 13 matches this season, far below his usual efforts over the past several years.

Last season he grabbed 29 goals and 18 assists as The Reds lifted the title and expectations were high. Despite only signing a contract extension at the club in April, rumours have been rife, but now Hafeez has confirmed to Sport Witness that he is unlikely to leave.

"Mohamed Salah is a very big star and has done things that are difficult for any player in the Arab world to do. He’s focusing on his professional career.

"Linking Salah to Al-Ahly is a media effort, and he’s a player who has honoured Egyptian football and all Arabs. Let’s talk realistically. Salah renewed his contract with Liverpool months ago.

"There is no official at Al-Ahly who talked about this matter. This matter was only circulated in the media. We will focus on the team’s priorities. I wish Salah success."

Although Salah signed an extension, reports claim that he is being offered a deal of around £150M a year which, at 33 years old is an offer he will struggle to refuse. As Liverpool continue to struggle, he may consider the deal and leaving the club at the end of a season which may end without a trophy.
