The Brazil midfielder admitted he was frustrated after Fulham had leveled.
He said afterwards: "I'm really incredulous. We were very tired after Wednesday's game and I think we had to learn how to finish the game.
"I'm happy we scored a goal in the end. In the last few games we've been punished at the end, by Arsenal and Liverpool.
"Will Osula came in, took the shot, and I was ready to rebound on my 150th start for this club. Now I just want to rest a bit because I'm really tired. My whole family is here—my mum, my kids, my wife—so scoring a goal like that at the Gallowgate End is really special. It's a really beautiful moment.
We can't always play the perfect game, but we had to get the three points, and today we did it. I'm very happy for everyone. This is the Newcastle I know, we'll fight until the end."
