The England international who was the subject of a £60M bid from Tottenham earlier this month as Spurs triggered his release clause which in any other circumstance would then move the deal along for both parties.
However, Forest state they never gave Spurs permission to speak to Gibbs-White and are currently looking at whether a confidentiality agreement in his release clause has been breached. Therefore, his future remains uncertain, despite his eagerness to sign for the North London club.
Reports claim that Forest would prefer him to move elsewhere given the circumstances of the original approach, and the likes of Manchester City have been linked with the playmakers in recent months. City however have shown no interest in the 25-year-old in some time and a transfer to the North West looks unlikely.
The Daily Mail report that Gibbs-White has shown an exemplary attitude since returning for duty on July 14th which is surprising given his current situation. If a second bid from Tottenham does come in however, his attitude may change, especially if Forest deny his move once more with just weeks before the season starts.
