Fulham manager Marco Silva has launched a stinging critique of his own club’s summer business, branding the transfer window “passive”.

Fulham have signed just one player so far this summer, back-up goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte from French side Montpellier for a reported fee of £500,000.

The West London club kick-off their Premier League season with a trip to Brighton on Saturday (August 16), and Silva is frustrated with their business so far.

Speaking to the BBC ahead of the game, the Portuguese coach said: "It's not an ideal scenario. I didn't expect us to be this passive. I knew what I wanted and the plan was there but it hasn't happened. Right now we need to reinforce. In some positions we are very short.

"Did I expect it? Of course not, but the market is the market."
