Club captain Cristian Romero, vice-captain James Maddison and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were already part of the club’s leadership group under former boss Ange Postecoglou.
Now, Micky Van de Ven and Ben Davies have stepped into the group, who are seen as the most important figures at the club. They are the spine of personalities capable of setting standards across Frank’s side, who are gearing up for what he hopes will be a successful campaign.
Frank explained his leadership choices in a recent press conference and why some players didn't get into the famed group.
“I think it's down to a few bits. First and foremost, there is quite a few with a leadership potential in them. The more we can have that want to speak up and take responsibility for the bigger picture, the better.
“That's what creates the best teams. And I agree with Rodri Bentancur and Pedro (Porro) especially, the two of them. They're two I want them to take a lot of responsibility and I think they do very well.
“But I also think this group also covers the squad to make sure we get around to everyone. Make sure all the groups, even though we're one big group, are touched and in sync. So lots of factors into that.”
A few fans were confused by Frank’s choices as Davies hasn't played so far this term, Maddison is likely out for the season and Pedro Porro was not included despite captaining the side this season. Frank knows best however as he leads his side into rest of the campaign.
