Tottenham defender Lucas Bergvall has suffered an injury setback ahead of the North London derby next weekend.

The 19-year-old started in the Premier League clash against Chelsea, but he was taken off after only seven minutes due to concussion. Despite him pleading with Tottenham’s medical staff to reenter the pitch, Frank made the final decision for him to be replaced.

Frank confirmed on Monday that Bergvall had suffered a concussion and would not participate in the next two games. Now, after being called up by Sweden, the national side have stated that he has suffered a knock back.

"Lucas Bergvall will not be available to play in the men's national team's next two matches due to the consequences of the concussion he suffered in connection with Tottenham's league match against Chelsea on November 1st."

Speaking to Sport Bladet, Swedish FA executive Stefan Pettersson added: "We had agreed with Tottenham's doctor to do some tests during the week and then run at full speed so that Lucas would feel it properly.

“When there was a reaction, there was no hesitation. We don't want to take any risks."

Sweden face Switzerland in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday, and manager Graham Potter will manage his first game in charge without the young defender who featured in their losses to Switzerland and Kosovo last month.

Spurs travel to the Emirates Stadium next Sunday as they try to push into the top four. A win could take them above Chelsea in third, whilst Arsenal could extend their lead to seven points at the top of the league.
