Former Manchester United defender Brandon Williams has sent a message to fans as he continues to trial for Hull City.

Williams, who was sentenced for dangerous driving, has made his first appearance in 19 months as he featured for the Tigers during their 2-1 friendly win over Premier League side Sunderland on Tuesday night.

The 24-year-old had previously last made an appearance back in December 2023 while on loan at Ipswich Town and has been slowly working his way back to football behind the scenes with hard work to try and get his fitness back up to standard.

United released Williams at the end of his contract in 2024 but the good news for the defender is that Hull are in the market for cover at left-back, and Williams will be given the chance to impress new head coach Sergej Jakirovic

Williams sent a number of messages to fans on social media as he makes his return, including one of inspiration as he dons the City kit during the Sunderland game:

“20 long hard months, it does pay off.

Back in love, back with fire, back with determination.”

The next post had a similar message about his comeback and how fans need to give him time to return to his old self ahead of the new season.

“Just give me time to keep working to 100% #Comebackispersonal.

“Back to life, back to reality.”

Finally, he posted one for fans who believed he would never return to the pitch and may have mocked him for his fall from grace from United and down to the Championship.

“Dear haters, I have so much more for you to be mad at, Just be patient.

“For the people who doubted me.”

The full-back came on after 77 minutes as a trialist as the Yorkshrie side beat Sunderland in what was an impressive performance for the Tigers who will seek to avoid relegation again next season in a side that may include Williams.
