Earlier this week Partey had been granted conditional bail after appearing in court on rape and sexual assault charges. The midfielder was charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault with the offences relating to three women reportedly took place in 2021 and 2022.
Partey's bail conditions state he cannot contact any of the three women and must notify police of any permanent changes of address or international travel. This will include the trip to Spain to finalize his move to Villarreal that has now been completed. The news of his deal comes from The Athletic who report that he has signed a two year deal with the club.
On social media scores of fans have voiced their opposition to the move, using a hashtag that translates to “No to Thomas Partey” whilst many complaints have been made over the decision to sign such a controversial figure who could feature against his former side in an upcoming friendly.
Partey's case has now been transferred to a Crown Court for trial. He is next due in court at the Old Bailey on September 2nd in what is an ongoing story where the 32 year old may be found guilty which will lead to his new contract being torn up.
