Leeds will look to extend their unbeaten home record when they host Tottenham at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon. Farke’s side have won one and drawn two of their three home fixtures but Tottenham could break that impressive record this weekend.
Farke aims to continue excellent start
Farke has led his side to 12th in the league after six games, which includes 2 wins so far. He was asked about his team’s excellent start, which may continue against Spurs.
"The start has been good. What I like about our start in terms of performances is that we have not won one lucky point. We have lost three points, very unlucky. We could be on 10 or 11 - then we would not just be talk of the town, but the talk of the country!
"I think that it's good for this emotional club that we are flying under the radar. Everyone connected with the club can be over the moon pretty quickly around here. We need many more points to achieve our target, so we have to keep going."
What makes Frank's Tottenham side so special?
Tottenham have lost just once across all competitions at the beginning of this season under manager Thomas Frank who questioned on what makes his side so special.
"The intensity his teams play with. They’re well structured, strong, and against the ball they play and press with intensity. His style, the detailed set pieces, attention to throw-ins. The mentality to grind out results.
"If you play three days, you have to rotate more than if you just have one game per week - they have the squad and quality to do this.
"But when it’s difficult, when they rotate, they find a way to grind out a result. The mentality which Frank brings to his team is effective - they find pragmatic solutions to find results. They can always come back with a late goal and this shows a good mentality, a good spirit, and this is down to Thomas and why his teams are so hard to play against."
Tottenham didn't bike to Norway!
Finally, Farke doesn't believe Leeds have an advantage over Spurs even if they played in Norway on Tuesday. He joked that their modes of transport along with care along the way means recovery is easy.
"Nowadays they don't travel by bicycle or coach, it is a private jet and they have chefs and all sorts!"
Team news
Farke also confirmed Dan James will be "out for 4-6 weeks" after rolling his ankle in training. Wilfried Gnonto will also miss Saturday's game with a calf strain, Lucas Perri "is back in team training" whilst Harry Gray will be available as "he reported some problems with his hip flexor".
