Manchester United legend Eric Canton has revealed that owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe refused his help at the club.

Back in April, Cantona stated that Ratcliffe was ripping the "soul" out of the club and claimed that he would not choose to support United now as long as he is in charge.

The Frenchman, who played 185 times for United between 1992 and 1997 is very opinionated and is not afraid to share what he thinks about his former club which says has a problem at the very top with Ratcliffe.

"I support United because I really love United, but now if I was a fan and I had to choose a club I don't think I would choose United," Cantona said at an event at FC United -- a breakaway club that was created after the Glazer family's takeover in 2005.

"Because I don't feel close to these kind of decisions. They have another strategy, another project. Do you feel close to this project? I don't think so."

Ratcliffe refused Cantona's help

Now, the legendary midfielder has hit out once more as he takes aim at Ratcliffe after he refused his help over the past few years.

“I have many other passions and projects, but I thought that for two or three years I could maybe put those to the side and try to give something to this club, which has given everything to me.

“But he didn’t seem interested. I did what I had to do, so I don’t feel guilty anymore. I tried my best.

“Sir Alex Ferguson created a style of beautiful attacking football, which the new owners should have used. Instead, they destroyed it.”

Ratcliffe has faced complaints regarding cost-cutting measures that resulted in approximately 450 redundancies and the scrapping of benefits such as subsidised canteen meals. Cantona is clearly not a fan of the billionaire who, despite United fine form at the moment, is a controversial figure.
