His goal against David Moyes’ side marked his first since their 3-1 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich back in September due to various injury issues.

Speaking after the game, Maresca confirmed that Palmer won’t feature for Chelsea in their Carabao Cup clash with Cardiff on Tuesday (December 16).

Can Cole Palmer play two games in one week?: "In this moment he can't play."

So he won't play in the Carabao Cup against Cardiff then?: "Probably not."
