However, Emery admits they need to start scoring goals after drawing another blank.
Emery said afterwards, “Firstly, grateful for the supporters, because they were here in the stadium, supporting and helping us.
“Of course, always, we are so, so grateful. We are feeling stronger with them.
“We needed to compete, we needed to keep a clean sheet and we need as well to continue improving and building the team.
“After we lost at home 3-0, we didn’t score, but we had chances, but we conceded and we were so, so fragile defensively. We conceded three goals against Crystal Palace and it was the first work we did to try to set today.
“So, defensively, we are working and then offensively as well, we tried. I was confident, even (in) the second half when we were doing some changes, I was waiting (for) one attack to score one goal.
“We didn’t do (it), but we have to feel today better and keeping balance. Not enough, of course, but positive and confident for the next matches.”
On their goalscoring concerns, Emery added: “We are not scoring goals, and it’s something we can feel worried (about), and maybe even not confident.
“Of course, when we were sometimes dominating, we were creating in the attacking third, we were getting the ball, but not enough being clinical in the last two or three passes before, to get the ball clearly.
“This is the next step forward we have to do, so keep going, working, keep going, improving, keep going, building the team.
“I am really happy, because we played competing like we planned, and this is the way to recover again our confidence, our structure with the players we added last week as well – understanding tactically and playing with our idea and as well with our demands.
“I will be consistent the next weeks; the thing we have to improve and the things we did today like we needed, showing the commitment the players showed, and then try to be individually and collectively achieving our objective.”
