Callum Hudson-Odoi struck twice, with Ibrahim Sangare also scoring at the City Ground.
Dyche said afterwards: “It’s pleasing all round. The squad delivered a performance on Thursday and won. Today we changed the team, they responded and won again.
“It’s important that they all know their responsibilities when they play and they have done this week. There is still more work to be done, but today was a clear sign of the improvement we’re hoping for, in terms of the shape and getting stronger.
“I think the mentality is getting stronger. We’ve taken a couple of knocks, but that’s always a reminder that you haven’t solved anything.
“I thought they were outstanding today and I’m really pleased with them.
“When our work ethic is right and our distance and shape are good, then you have the freedom to go and play, and I thought that was on show today.
“They did play, but equally they were willing to get the shape right, press, recover, press and get us back into the situation that gave us the glue to hold a performance together.
“When we played, we scored some fantastic goals, which I’m really pleased with.”
