Patrick Dorgu‘s fantastic striker put United 2-1 up, taking the lead in the game for the first time before the Red Devils went on to win the game thanks to a brilliant effort from Matheus Cunha in the second half.
The Denmark international effort on Sunday was quickly compared with Evra's memorable finish against Bayern Munich in 2014 in which he fired the ball past goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
Evra, a United legend, posted on X, alongside a video of him celebrating Dorgu’s spectacular goal: “What are you doing to me bro.”
Dorgu quickly responded, suggesting he had been studying Evra and his striker closely in what will be a big confidence boost.
“Learned from the best. I’ve seen your goal against Bayern.”
The win against league leaders Arsenal helps United move up to fourth in the standings with 10 wins, eight draws and five losses this season.
There were worries about Dorgu after the game after he came off the pitch but interim boss Michael Carrick confirmed it is nothing serious.
He explained it was “cramp” and that “at this stage, it’s hard to tell, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully it’s not too bad,” Carrick said.
