The Belgian star tormented the defence of the champions in Sunday’s 3-0 win at the Etihad over Liverpool. His performance reminded pundits of his immense ability, something he has not shown a lot of over the past year.
In his first two seasons at City, Doku averaged three goals and seven assists in the league, but this season he seems to be coming out of his shell more and impressing fans who want his name to be the first on the team sheet.
Speaking to Best Betting Bonuses, Dickov has the ultimate praise for Doku who he believes can be compared to the world’s best.
“I would say he's probably the best in Europe at the minute. Not just of his performance against Liverpool, which was top drawer, but I said before the game, that despite Erling Haaland’s goals, Doku has consistently been City’s best player and biggest threat.”
“People were forgetting last season. They were questioning his end product a little bit. And maybe he was doing all these dribbles and was playing at a mile-a-minute. Maybe his crossing and finishing suffered, but he’s worked so hard at his game. He’s only 23 years old. He’s a young boy, and he’s just impossible to defend against when he gets you one on one."
Doku has made 100 appearances across all competitions, scoring 17 goals under manager Pep Guardiola. Fans will be keen to see whether Doku can keep up his fine form as the football schedule grows more intense and Guardiola rotates his side heading into the Christmas break.
