Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has tipped Aston Villa playmaker Morgan Rogers to make a move to a top 6 side this summer.

Rogers is one of the best young midfielders in the league and as summer approaches, bids are set to be made for the England star who will represent his country at the World Cup at the end of the campaign.

The 23-year-old established himself in the Villa side under manager Unai Emery, registering 14 goals and 13 assists in 54 games.

Rogers on the move?

Speaking to GOAL this week, via BetWright betting, Collymore has suggested that Rogers will push for a move to a bigger team in the Premier League.

“If they get into the top four and Villa don’t win the (FA) cup, which is as likely as not, I think there will be three or four of the big boys that will be hovering around and would think nothing of paying 75-80 million and give you a couple of Chelsea rejects, Liverpool rejects, Man United rejects.

“I think Morgan Rogers is ambitious enough to want to go to a Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United. I think it would be only those three clubs. I don’t see Liverpool needing that kind of upgrade at the moment.

“I could certainly see a Manchester City, where of course he started, a Manchester United, that are always spending money, Arsenal even - alongside a Declan Rice, that would be pretty awesome if they were champions - and a Chelsea that always seem to have the money to spend. I could see it happening.”

Chelsea already have the likes of Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro, Alejandro Garnacho, Estevao and Jamie Gittens in the attacking midfield role whilst the likes of Man City and United are lacking in such areas.

United are keen on rebuilding their midfield, but reports suggest their focus is on holding or defensive positions. This leaves Manchester City, a club Rogers was acquired by in 2019 in what could be a welcome return much like Eberechi Eze back to Arsenal last summer.
