Former referee Mark Clattenburg has slammed PGMOL technical director Howard Webb after Arsenal's win over Newcastle United.

Arsenal’s win over Newcastle was filled with controversy from the very start when Nick Pope clattered into Viktor Gyökeres in the box that was deemed to not be a penalty, much to the frustration of fans.

Next, Gabriel was fortunate to get away with a slap on Nick Woltemade in the 40th minute that many feel should have been a red card. Later, the ball hit Gabriel’s arm in the box that was deemed once again to not be a penalty even though replays did not show a clear reason why it would not be given.

The result was overlooked as many discussed the decisions after the game, including Clattenburg, who ripped into Webb and his team.

“Another match where we are discussing the standards of refereeing in the Premier League #NEWARS . Time for Webb to accept his has failed!!”

The Arsenal game is the latest controversial game, which follows Fulham’s defeat to Chelsea and Brentford's 3-1 win over Manchester United that have all had dodgy decisions made, sparking debate online.

Many have suggested that Webb be taken off VAR duty for the foreseeable as tensions rise after each game week where decisions are not improving.
