Joao Felix is reportedly in talks over a move back to Benfica as Chelsea proper for huge financial loss.

After winning the Club World Cup in New Jersey against Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain, the Blues must now focus on clearing out many squad players that manager Enzo Maresca considers to be dead wood.

Chelsea are looking to shift a number of unwanted squad members before the start of the new season to adhere to financial rules both with the Premier League and UEFA who recently fined the side around £51M for overspending. Maresca has been bolstering his attack with the additions of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens which leaves no room for one attacking asset.

The Club spent £45m on signing Felix just last summer but it is now emerging that he is due to leave the club after a very disappointing spell with the side. Felix played just 12 Premier League games in the first half of the season before being sent to AC Milan on loan where he made just 3 goal contributions in 21 appearances.

The Portuguese international is said to be keen on a return to Portugal, which would see him reunite with former Wolves manager Bruno Lage back in his homeland where he may return to his old self. Meresca did not select Felix as part of his Club World Cup squad and has no plans to use him in the future which only points to a move away from the side.

If sold, Felix would leave in a deal said to be worth around £35M which means Chelsea would lose £10M on him. This is not a great start as the club try to balance the books and clear out a number of other stars who will not feature for the club in the new campaign.
