Chukwuemeka, 21, spent the second half of last season on loan at Dortmund and now makes his move permeant, taking Chelsea's income from player sales this summer to a league-high £273.4M, which almost balances out the £277M spent on incoming transfers.
Under manager Enzo Maresca, Chukwuemeka only played five times, limited to appearances in the Carabao Cup and the Conference League. He was keen to move back to the Westfalenstadion despite interest from RB Leizpig and the club have announced the deal has been completed on Tuesday afternoon.
“Borussia Dortmund has signed Carney Chukwuemeka from FC Chelsea. The 21-year-old is now committed until June 30, 2030, to the eight-time German champions.
“Welcome back in Black and Yellow!”
Chukwuemeka arrived at Chelsea as a highly talented youngster but his time in West London never quite worked out. He will apply his trade to the Bundesliga once again after scoring 1 goal in 17 appearances last season. His performances convinced the club's hierarchy to secure his services on a permanent basis as Dortmund chase down the title once more.
