Chelsea have been handed a huge injury boost with bold defender Tosin Adarabioyo set to return to training this week.

The 27 year old was ruled out of Sunday's clash with Crystal Palace in what was described as a "small issue" in training that left many fans worried about how the Blues’ backline would perform against the Eagles who did not manage to take away their clean sheet.

However, Chelsea lucky to escape with a point after Eberechi Eze’s free kick was disallowed by VAR in the first half as the ball crept through the wall and past goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. However, as reported by Standard Sport, the club have been handed a huge boost as Adarabioyo returns to full fitness.

The report states that the plan as things stand is for Tosin to return to training this week, though that has not been set in stone yet as he continues to be monitored closely. Unfortunately it also reveals that he is a doubt to face West Ham but manager Enzo Maresca may rush him back after his sides shaky performance against Palace.

Explaining Tosin’s absence before the game on Sunday, Maresca said: "There is a small injury, he needs some days off, then we will see for the next game."

Defenders Trevoh Chalobah and academy graduate Josh Acheampong were picked by Maresca as his centre-back partnership for the game against Palace. The Italian tactican has made it clear that he wants his side to sign another centre-back to cover the loss of Colwill to an ACL injury which may come sooner than expected as his defensive options continue to wain.
