Chelsea have denied making a late attempt to hijack Manchester United’s move for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, despite reports suggesting last-minute interest.

Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler claims Chelsea made a late offer for Mbeumo but the forward had his heart set on a move to United.

Per The Telegraph, Chelsea have since denied the club made any last-minute attempt to scupper Man United’s bid for Mbeumo while he was still a Brentford player.

The 25-year-old was officially announced as a Man United player on Monday (July 21), joining the 20-time champions for a fee of £65 million plus £6 million in add-ons.

Mbeumo put pen to paper on a five-year deal with United, keeping him at the club until 2030. He will also wear the number 19 during his time at Old Trafford.
