The midfielder continued his comeback from long-term injury when featuring in yesterday's FA Cup win at Wrexham.
Rosenior said afterwards: "We're entering a period of matches where Romeo Lavia can be really important for us. He needs to play. We need to get him into the swing of things and give Dario Essugo time to play. They were very good.
"It's fantastic for Romeo to get his sixty minutes because we approached his rehabilitation differently. We were more patient and trained him differently.
"Any player who's been out for four months won't be perfect, but his performance at the start against Arsenal was excellent and his performance against Villa was very good.
"He's a top-class player, but you can't expect perfection from a player who's been out for four months."
And on both Lavia and Essugo, who also has returned from serious injury, Rosenior added: "It's fantastic that they both get to play for sixty minutes, because we'll need everyone for the knockout stage."
