Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca offered an update on Cole Palmer after the midfielder was forced off in the first half of the defeat to Man United.

The 23-year-old was the third Chelsea player to come off after just 21 minutes, setting a Premier League record for the earliest a side has made three substitutions.

Estevao and Pedro Neto were both taken off after Robert Sanchez picked up a red card just five minutes into the game.

Palmer, on the other hand, was subbed after seemingly experiencing some discomfort in his groin, a potential reoccurrence of the injury he picked up earlier in the season and headed straight down the tunnel to be assessed.

Speaking to the press after the game, Maresca confirmed that the talismanic playmaker underwent tests to see if he was fit.

“Cole this morning did a test to play this game. He was not 100%. It was a fantastic effort for the club, for his team-mates, for the team. Unfortunately he was not 100%,” he said.
