Victory over Arsenal on Saturday confirmed Villa as a the form team in the country.
Asked how Emery is managing his players, Cash laughed: “There is a lot of pressure from the outside, people concerned as to why we are not winning or why we are not as good as we have been. He almost lifted that pressure off us and might not be as intense.
“But when we started winning, yeah, it can be really intense, you know. Just the meetings go up, the details go up, the training demands go up. He wants so much success at the club and he wants everybody to be successful.
“It sounds mad, I know. When we are losing, why is he not like that? But I think maybe he likes to take a little bit of pressure off, I don’t know.
“When we are winning and start moving into the Champions League spots, he is really demanding!”
Cash added: “The boss always says he doesn’t look too much at the league table. When you get to the 30-game mark, that’s when you can look if you’re around the Champions League spots.
“In the first half of the season you have to add up the three points and stay consistent. After 30 games you can look at where you might finish and that’s when we get even more demanding with ourselves."
