Calvert-Lewin struck in the 3-1 win at Elland Road.
He later said: "Everything came together. An all-round performance from the team. We had good discipline and managed the game well. Things went our way on the night. The conditions were difficult and we knew what they were going to bring. We knew we would have to have our tin hats on at times and we did and we battled well and won the game.
"We've just done today what we have been doing for the last few weeks, executing our game plan, on the ball and off the ball, trying to dominate possession and manage the game.
"We are trying to mature as we go through the season and we did that well today. Again we are not getting carried away. It is a massive three points for us and one we can take confidence from."
On whether Leeds are safe from the drop, Calvert-Lewin added: "No. I know you all like to get carried away but no. We knew it was a huge game today and we had to get three points. It's a step in the right direction and we will be working, pushing, motivated even more to keep going up the table."
