Chelsea arrive at Anfield this weekend without a league win from their last six as the Blues desperately try to salvage a European spot under McFarlane.
The Blues sit down in ninth position in the table as they come up against a Liverpool side aiming to bounce back from their 3-2 defeat to Manchester United last week.
Ahead of the clash, Chelsea have several injury concerns, most importantly in attack which could render them toothless against a strong Liverpool defence.
Firstly, Chelsea prospect Jesse Derry will miss the rest of the season according to reports after he was involved in a clash of heads with fellow youngster Zach Abbott shortly before half-time in the Nottingham Forest defeat last week.
Meanwhile, Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian, Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho are all out with season ending injuries or knocks that will leave them out of the Liverpool clash.
Mykhailo Mudryk also remains suspended and lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against a four‑year drugs ban imposed by the Football Association last month as he seems unlikely to return to the pitch for the club.
Champions League qualification is no longer possible for Chelsea who will have to settle for Europa League or Conference League football if they do not win the FA Cup. With 3 games remaining and a lifeless, injury ridden attack this seems almost impossible.
