However, the former Bologna stopper insists he is happy at Arsenal.
Speaking before last night's Carabao Cup final defeat, Calafiori told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I miss the sun and would have liked to see friends and family more often, but I'm not complaining.
"In Italy we are used to analysing, judging and criticising. I appreciate that it's not the same here."
He also explains why the choice to move to England felt obvious.
"I have always had a dream of playing in England. After the European Championship my value increased and my agent told me that Arsenal were very interested.
"I knew I was going to the toughest league, but at the same time I thought that I could always take a step back if necessary."
He added, "Arsenal is Arsenal, an iconic team, unlike any other."
