Burnley are lining up a move for Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone as they search for a replacement for James Trafford, who is set to re-join Man City imminently.

Trafford, 22, is on the brink of returned to boyhood club Man City for a fee that will surpass the previous record for an English goalkeeper set by Jordan Pickford of £30 million.

Burnley are now on the lookout for a replacement and have set their sights on Wolves ‘keeper Sam Johnstone, according to the Sun.

The 32-year-old is currently Wolves’ second-choice goalkeeper behind Portugal’s Jose Sa and made just 10 appearances last season.

Wolves are open to letting Johnstone leave this summer, either on loan or permanently for a fee of around £8 million.
