Flamengo reportedly decided to sack manager Felipe Luis after the club found out he held negotiations with Chelsea's ownership group BlueCo.

Luis, 40, had a remarkably successful time at Flamengo, winning five pieces of major silverware since joining in October 2024.

Despite that, the Brazilian giants decided to part ways with the former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea left-back after finding out he held talks with BlueCo.

According to UOL, the approached him following Enzo Maresca’s exit, and Luis was keen on taking over at Chelsea.

Chelsea weren’t the club he would take over, however, and Luis quickly shut talks down when finding out he would be joining sister club Strasbourg instead.

Flamengo didn’t find out about these talks until recently, and were so upset, they decided to part ways with one of their best modern managers.
