Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur requires hamstring surgery and is now set to miss three months of games for the club.

As reported by The Athletic and the BBC, Bentancur is expected to be out for around three months with a hamstring injury sustained in their Premier League game against Bournemouth last Wednesday.

The Uruguayan came off in the 86th minute of that clash at the Vitality Stadium, and reports suggest Tottenham will dip into the transfer market, especially after selling Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace last week.

The midfielder has started in 17 of his team’s 21 Premier League games so far this season and manager Thomas Frank will need to be quick in finding a replacement, otherwise his midfield could grow worse for the second half of the season.

Bentancur joins James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski in the injury room which is filled with attacking talent that Frank will not miss for their next clash against West Ham United this weekend.

Spurs are 14th in the Premier League and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa at the weekend. Pressure is growing on Frank as the Tottenham board become impatient with the Danish manager, who has the impossible task of turning the club around.

Archie Gray is set to replace Bentancur whilst Pape Matar Sarr could return from the Africa Cup of Nations later this month to try and fill the gap.
