Premier League legend Gareth Barry says Tottenham could enjoy the Championship if they are relegated.

Tottenham have the sixth most valuable squad in the Premier League and yet the club are one point away from the relegation zone after a winless start to 2026.

The club’s new manager, Roberto De Zerbi, has made a stunning hinted he will stay even if the club face relegation this season which is something that is becoming a very real possibility.

De Zerbi has just seven games to maintain Tottenham Hotspur's top-flight status but despite the threat, Barry spoke to BOYLE Sports, who offer the latest Champions League odds about how dropping down would not be a complete disaster.

“There will be some tough times and difficult periods for Spurs if they were to go down, but I would expect them to come straight back up. It would be a different experience for the fans, but knowing what football fans are like, they'll make the most of it and have a good time at certain away grounds.

“I should imagine the opposition coming to the Spurs stadium would be incredible for some of the fans of the Championship teams.

“Potential interesting times ahead with a massive club like Spurs. Personally, I love to see the history, and Spurs are still one of the only, is it six clubs, that have never been relegated? It'd be sad to lose another one of those. But someone's got to go.”

Having gone without a league victory since beating Crystal Palace 1-0 back in December, De Zerbi's first chance at picking up three points will come against Sunderland where his side must bounce back or facing fall into the drop zone.
